10th Annual Freedom Run, Minnesota Lake, MN

The 10th annual Freedom Run took place on Saturday, June 18 in Minnesota Lake. Over 260 motorcycles and classic cars participated this year, making it the largest crowd in the event’s history. The morning program consisted of featured speakers including MMAF Board Member Barry Winslow, along with a very emotional live phone call to a local service member deployed to Kuwait. Upon finishing, participants celebrated with music, a hog roast, a bean bag tournament, and a live auction with prizes. The event raised over $25,000, bringing the grand total to nearly $180,000 dollars over the past ten years. Learn more about the Freedom Run.

Minnesota Twins Military Day, Target Field

The Minnesota Twins honored four Purple Heart recipients at Target Field before their game against the Texas Rangers on Sunday, July 3 as part of Military Appreciation Day. MMAF Co-Founder, General (Ret.) Dennis Schulstad, awarded grants as part of the pre-game festivities to four Minnesota service members that had received a Purple Heart for injuries sustained in combat: Sergeant Eric Rock, Specialist Bradley Geyer, Sergeant First Class Benjamin Hoff and Sergeant First Class Troy Martinek

The Patriot Ride, Key Air (Anoka County Airport), Blaine, MN

The Minnesota Patriot Guard, Dennis Kirk, and Tribute to the Troops presented the 11th annual Patriot Ride. The ride began and ended at Key Air, the north end of the Anoka County Airport. More than 4,200 riders participated in the 50 mile ride to show their support for Minnesota service members and their families. Participants enjoyed live music, food, parachute jumps, the Donnie Smith Bike Show, and special speakersLearn more about the Patriot Ride.

Leech Lake Area Ride for Vets - Walker Area American Legion Post 134

The Sixth annual Leech Lake Area Ride for Vets will take place on Saturday, August 20, 2016. The ride begins at the Walker Area American Legion Post 134 at 11:00 am. The 100-mile ride helps raise funds and awareness for veteran’s organizations in Minnesota, including MMAF. Click here to learn more about the Ride for Vets.

Twin Cities River Rats Water Ski Show

The Twin Cities River Rats will host their eighth annual Military Appreciation show at their Minneapolis home site, just off of West River Road in between Broadway Avenue and Plymouth Avenue on August 23rd. Come watch the outstanding performance as they barefoot ski, ski-jump, build human pyramids and perform on the Mississippi River. Military Appreciation Day at the Minnesota State Fair

The Minnesota State Fair will again hold Military Appreciation Day in which veterans receive discounted admission. Minnesotans’ Military Appreciation Fund will have an information booth along with many veterans service organizations. Check back for additional details.
